QueryRight

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the matching work?

You describe your manuscript — genre, comp titles, audience, word count, pitch. QueryRight checks that against a researched database of literary agents and returns a ranked shortlist with specific reasons for each match, like shared genre focus, an open wishlist item, or comparable titles the agent has repped.

Is the agent database complete?

Not yet. We're building it out agent by agent, sourced directly from agency websites and public wishlists, rather than scraping or guessing. It's growing, but it doesn't yet cover every agent or agency.

Do you contact agents on my behalf?

No, we don't send query letters for you — QueryRight helps you find and track the right agents to query yourself. The one exception is the Pitch Board: agents can discover your pitch there and message you first if they're interested.

How do agents get verified on the platform?

Agent accounts are manually reviewed before they can browse or respond to pitches, to keep the Pitch Board a genuine space for real industry professionals.

How are comp titles suggested?

Comp Lister pulls real, published books from Google Books, the NYT Bestseller Lists, and Open Library based on your genre and pitch — never invented or AI-generated titles. You can accept or reject suggestions, and your feedback improves future results for that book.

Will I lose my progress if I don't finish adding a book?

No. Your book saves automatically as you move through each step, so you can pick up right where you left off from My Books.

Is QueryRight free?

Yes, for now. We may introduce optional paid features in the future, but core matching and query tracking are free.
